I encourage everyone to write. It’s a way to gather your thoughts and record what today means to you. I teach children and work as a Reading Specialist. Part of learning to read is also learning to write. I enjoy seeing the changes in the students’ work over time. Ideas expand. Handwriting and spelling improve, but those are just mechanics of writing, not the nitty gritty. I hope that someday, because of my encouragement, guidance, and teaching that some of my students become lucrative authors who enjoy every day because I took the time to share with them the joys of writing. My youngest son has already proven that he is a far better writer than I will ever be. I like to think he got the joy of writing and the skill of doing it from me.
